Federal Standards for Urine Drug Testing

The following cutoff concentrations are used by certified laboratories to test urine specimens collected by Federal agencies and by employers regulated by the Department of Transportation:

Initial Test Cutoff Concentration
(nanograms/milliliter)

Confirmatory Test Cutoff Concentration
(nanograms/milliliter)

     (1) Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid
     (2) Benzoylecgonine
     (3) Specimen must also contain amphetamine at a concentration >= 200 nanograms/milliliter
     (4) Test for 6-AM when morphine concentration exceeds 2000 nanograms/milliliter
